'Flipping your Lid' - managing moments of crisis

During periods of heightened emotion and stress children and young people often respond with behaviour which challenges us.  This training will look at how to respond during these times of crisis in order to manage them more effectively.  We will look at what is happening in the brain and body when the stress system is activated and consider how this knowledge can inform our response.  We will cover techniques for de-escalation and calming and how to plan for crisis.  The session will also consider how to use emotion coaching scripts to help children and young people understand their own feelings and behaviours.

The training will be delivered by Michelle Kittles and Nicola Gundersen from the EP team.

Date: Friday 22nd November 2019

Time 9:15am-12:15pm

Target Audience: Designated Teachers, staff working directly with CIC

Maximum of 25 places available

This training was rescheduled from July due to trainer sickness therefore there are only a limited number of places left.  Please contact Min to book onto this training.
