Activity Ideas: Maths

This page includes a range of online games, resources and activities which will support and develop key numeracy skills for children and young people of all ages. Many resources focus upon basic number skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

 

Primary Resources - A range of maths printable resources for all primary age groups. The site is organised by curriculum subject and includes many PowerPoints, worksheets and resources for a range of different maths topics.

Topmarks Education - Interactive maths games, videos, website links, resources and activities for all ages, including Post-16. You can browse by subject, theme or age group in order to find the information or help that you need.

NRICH - A good selection of maths games and challenges for all ages (Early Years to Post-16). The ‘maths at home’ section is particularly useful and most of the activities here only require paper and a pencil!

Maths Chase - This interactive game helps children from reception to Year 4 to improve their recall of basic number facts. The game can be adapted to improve addition, subtraction, multiplication (times tables) or division skills. The simplicity of the game also encourages independent learning.

MathsFrame - Whilst you need to register to access this website in full there are still 22 free maths games for younger children to enjoy (KS1/KS2). You can choose your own level of difficulty, with the games mainly focusing upon addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills.

Twinkl - Downloadable maths resources for Early Years, Primary, Secondary, EAL and SEND children. The site includes a range of material to support many different maths topics.

Khan Academy - This non-profit organisation allows users to access all their content for free. They offer an extensive maths library with videos, articles, quizzes, practical exercises and other resources. The content is developed to fit the US/international grades rather than the British national curriculum years but here is an overview of the conversions:

Khan Academy App - For children aged 2 - 7 there's a free app that you can download on Apple or android devices. The app has a huge library of contents including many maths games and basic maths resources. Some of the content can also be accessed offline.


 

BBC Bitesize - Lots of free maths resources for ages 3 to Post-16. Academic support in a huge range of subjects with games, tutorials, quizzes and much more.

Teachit – Numeracy resources developed by teachers for all ages (Early Years to KS5). Lots of worksheets, games and themed activities that can be downloaded. You can normally sign up to access their free resources which are downloadable as PDFs.

MyBnk (Family Money Twist) - MyBnk is a leading UK charity that delivers expert-led financial educational programmes and e-learning resources for 5-25 year olds with schools and youth organisations. They have developed a free set of resources for home learning for 5 - 11 year olds that compliments the resources already available for schools. Resources are available once you register for a free account.
